Our Fave Winter Treatment

What’s not to love about winter? Not only does it serve as a warranted excuse to stay in bed a little longer…but in TASH 360’s world, it’s the perfect season to rejuvenate the skin. Less time spent in the sun, means less heat and UV ray exposure, which means less risks associated with aesthetic treatments.

While the sunrays are at bay, our Skin Specialists will play!

Our Skincare Specialist, Angie Chaplin, writes about an amazing skin treatment that serves as a winter-wonder for your skin:

CONTOUR TRL™ from Sciton – AKA The Laser Facelift! Rejuvenation by Ablation!

Technology today has come a long way, just as a computer or cell phone has a motherboard translating the information, the laser has one too. Lasers work similarly, just as a computer is programmed to perform a function, a laser beam has various wavelengths used to treat different depths in the skin as well as target different skin concerns.

A 2940 nm wavelength is what is used when we resurface the skin, this wavelength is delivered through a computer-controlled device that automatically scans the area of skin being treated. Physicians can control the ablation and coagulation depth for either light or deep peels. A light peel starts with a NanoLaserPeel, then builds to a MicroLaserPeel, before we get to the big guns of Deep Laser Resurfacing – also known as a Laser Facelift!

This article focuses on Deep Laser Resurfacing. If you want to read up on NanoLaserPeel, please read this article for more information.

Why would Deep Laser Resurfacing be the best treatment option for you?

A Sciton skin resurfacing procedure can reverse deep wrinkles and restore a healthy look to the skin while using a laser beam to scan across the treatment area and precisely remove a layer of skin. The body is remarkable, as it will naturally replace the old, damaged skin with fresh, healthy new layers.

Laser resurfacing is something that can be done in stages for less downtime, however, the final result may take longer.

Primary treatments include:

  • Mild to deep wrinkles
  • Persistent peri-oral and peri-orbital deep rhytides
  • Acne scars
  • Post-traumatic and surgical scars
  • Actinic keratoses
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Lax skin in all areas (including upper and lower blephs)
  • Poor skin tone/texture

This phenomenal technology has the ability to treat the skin from superficial to deep peels.  The unique Contour Tunable Resurfacing Laser enables exceptional, patient-centred outcomes. The beauty of this remarkable device is that we have independent controls for ablation and coagulation levels allowing us to optimize results depending on the patient’s skin condition and needs.

For those of you into the ‘sciency’ technology…

Coagulation uses sub-ablative laser energy that is delivered in pulses that heat the tissue to a selectable depth without vaporizing or ablating it. This amazing TRL technology used together provides the ability to vaporize down wrinkles externally while internally stimulating the dermal collagen matrix to firm the skin and add dermal resilience through coagulation.

Remember: As we age, the effects of sun damage and environmental pollutants take their toll on our skin –  causing it to wrinkle, develop sun spots and look tired. Lifestyle is a valuable attribute to how we age – whether we are in the sun tanning, hiking, taking naps outside in your comfy hammock or just eating badly, it is always important to remember that anti-ageing interventions start from within your lifestyle!
